App Inspiration - Service/Training Finder

Hello! I'm looking for some suggestions for an app concept - I'm still very new to powerapps so I want to see if something like this is possible. Basically, I work in a learning team and we want to create an app that trainees can use to determine what training they need to complete based on choices they make, so for example:

What business area would you like to learn more about?

  • Business Area 1
  • Business Area 2
  • Business Area 3

Then depending on what business area they choose, they will get a list of branches within the area, so for business area 1:

  • Branch 1
  • Branch 2
  • Branch 3
  • Branch 4
  • Branch 5

Training areas within the selected branches will appear on a searchable list, then they can search keywords such as "Processing", "Claims" etc. and results for each area can appear.

Based on their selections, suggestions will be made on what training modules they should complete, so if they select Branch 1 and 2 then two training areas within, they will be suggested the relevant training modules for these branches and they will have links to a SharePoint page where we hold these modules.

I hope this makes sense! Is this possible or am I dreaming? I have tried using a SharePoint list but I'm just not very good at this process. Please also note, my workplace does not allow access to Dataverse (to my annoyance)

Thanks so much in advance.

You don't need Dataverse to do this, SharePoint can do it. It really depends on how you setup your data.

Sounds like your training modules are in a SharePoint Library currently so you could reuse this. I'd add some Metadata to this Library such as

    - Training Area, and possibly

    - Branch #

Because I'm not across your data, I'm not sure if "Claims" was selected in Branches 1 & 2 it would show the same training modules or different ones. If the same, then you probably don't need Branch # above.

You can then have a separate List for Business Unit, Branch and Training Area.

Also, depending on the expected size of your List/Library you may need to consider delegation issues with the data. Reza Dorrani has a great 5-part YouTube series of delegation that's worth watching here:

    This is a start.
