Add rows to dataset Power BI versus SharePoint List-Get Data-PBI

Hi,

I wanted to get some opinions/preferences on using Flow to add rows to dataset within Power BI versus connecting SharePoint List (dataset) to Power Bi via Get Data and running a refresh of the data via Power BI.

In my scenario I am collecting data using Forms - adding the responses to SP list - then connecting the data to Power BI - either using Flow or connecting the SharePoint List via Get Data in Power BI.

Having looked at both options the latter seems easier (for the less technical user that I am) to set up and administer  but I am wondering if I am missing something with being able to add rows to dataset using Flow? What are its advantages or limitations?

All thoughts welcome 🙂

    Hi @Anonymous,

I have made a test on my side and there is no any documentation declare the limitations of "Add rows to a dataset" action, you could make a test on your side to create a flow with the action to see if your requirement could be achieved.

    Best regards,

    Alice

    Hi @v-yuazh-msft

    Thanks for your response.

I hace made the test but what I am thinking is that to save setting up the flow to stream the data into Power BI you can just connect the sharepoint list via Get Data and then manage a refresh in PBI. This seems like a more direct and simpler route to me with less effort.

    Thanks,

    Pamela
