Docusign - Getting an recipient error when trying to send an envelope

Hi,

I created a flow for docusign when an object is created or modified in sharepoint i want to create an envelope from a template, add recipient and send the envelope.

The send part is getting "The email address for the recipient is invalid. The recipient Id follows." I can see that the email adress is correct, what could it be?

If i go to my Sharepoint list and chose "Use template" from the docusign tab everything works fine.

Research to date suggests we are not adding recipients for all the roles identified in the template but I know I have. Something is not properly associating the recipient to the role name.

OK I figured it. You just need to check your DocuSign account in the Drafts area to see what the Flow has created and you will see the Draft document has 2 recipients. The one you added with the Role as you expected but it also has the initial one created with the Template that has only the Role and no email address.

The workaround till this gets fixed (Microsoft please), is to the list the recipients on the created envelope and delete the one with the blank email address.

Hope this helps others - please mark as solution.

Talked with DocuSign support as removing the blank recipient causes more problems as the Added recipient isn't properly associated with the Role identified. The short answer is we need to use the "DEPRECATED: Send Envelope using Template V1" until the V2 is replaced or removed. Using V1 still allows you to use other tasks like Send Envelope.  Hope that helps explain why you might be seeing templates sent out without any fields available to the recipient (if you followed my first advice).  Thanks, SM

Is this solution still available? I cannot see the "DEPRECATED: Send Envelope using Template V1"

I am still getting the error of invalid email address, and there are empty recipients in the drafts.

    Hi @Steve416

It's been a few months since the last post on this thread.  I'm curious if there was a real solution rolled out for this?  My flow runs successfully but still receives that same error message from time to time and I can't figure out why.  "The email address for the recipient is invalid. The recipient id follows"
My flow is different as I'm not using the action Send Envelope from a Template. and I have multiple signers.
Please let me know if there's a new solution!

    Thank you.

    @Rebekah278

Not sure if this will help you, but I found the solution was to use "Update Recipient of an Envelope" instead of "Add Recipient to Envelope." So far I've found the recipient IDs are the same as the signing order. That may not be the case all the time.

Thank you @tollefkr .  I was able to fix it by increasing the delay to wait for the first Flow to complete.  However, I wouldn't be surprised if it still happened again.  I will try your suggestion if it does.

    Hi @tollefkr

Well, I'm back to having issues with this again.
Trying to take your advice and replace "Add Recipient to Envelope" actions with "Update Recipient on an envelope".  However, the "Recipient Id" is a required field and I have nowhere in my dynamic content to pull that from.  I believe the "Add Recipient to Envelope" action is actually created this ID.

Please let me know how to get around this or if you have any other ideas!
