Power Automate -- Key Value Mode and Text Mode

Good day All --

I am very new to Power Automate and have been trying to learn as much as I can by watching videos online. I noticed in one video by Reza Dorrani he switches his editor from Key Value mode to Text mode using the icon highlighted in yellow (in the image below.)

I can see there is a difference in what data needs to be entered, but I can't seem to figure out why I would choose one over the other. I Googled around, but couldn't find any sites with descriptions.

Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,

Seth

There is no one answer as to why you'd toggle, sometimes it might be that you can type the syntax faster than you can edit it with the gui, other times you might want to pass an array built elsewhere to it, another reason could be you want to change the order of the columns without starting over.

@srduval thank you for your response. So, are they just two ways of doing the same thing? Maybe that is my knowledge gap.

    Thanks,

    Seth

Yes. The "Enter Key/Enter Value" is there for the "no code" approach, for people who don't know how to write the actual code format or for times when it is easy to just pick from a list.  If you fill in those boxes via the menus, then toggle that button, you'll see your selections converted to code. So long as you follow the pattern and keep the expressions simple and don't have any syntax errors, you can toggle back and forth between the two modes at anytime.
