How to ask questions and gather results based on answers

Greetings!
Brand new to Copilot Studio. I am trying to create an agent that will ask three things:
  1. What is your dream job?
  2. What is your zip code?
  3. Upload a current copy of your resume.

Then, the agent will compare the dream job with the resume and create a list of missing skills, education and training to help the user move toward their dream job.

Then the agent will use the zip code and search for resources with web sites, phone numbers, info, etc., that the user can look into to move toward their dream job.

Finally, the agent will offer to email the results to the user's email address of choice (or possibly save to a PDF for downloading)

I have created Topics and Identities to get 1-3 above into variables in Copilot. But I am stuck in how to have Copilot actually run the task based on these variables to get the final results.

Any tips for a newbie?

TIA!

Steve

With AI orchestration turned on, you don’t need to build Topics for every question. Just create the tools (actions) that do the real work, like analyzing the resume, finding resources, and sending results. Then, write very clear instructions for the agent about what to ask, what to run, and in what order. The AI will automatically ask for any missing information (dream job, zip code, resume) before calling the tools. This way, the flow is simpler and smarter — no need for manual Topics unless you want more control over specific conversations.

That was very helpful - thanks!

I did the several Topics so I could control the flow and tone of the interaction more.

Is there a way to get the action to pull the info from the variables?  When I run it now it tells me:

"It appears that the job title, resume file, and zip code details you provided are placeholders. To assist you effectively, could you please provide the specific job title, your resume details, and your zip code? This will allow me to research the required qualifications for the job, compare them with your current qualifications, and find relevant training resources near your location."

I can rework it, but it sure would be nice if I could get it to grab those three things from those variables.  I don't see a variable option in the tools/action section.

    TIA!
