Read-Only Sharing Option for Colleagues Trying to Learn Canvas App Development

It would be great if there were another sharing option besides User and Co-Owner. I'd love to be able to give people read-only access to an app in the Powerapps Studio. Like an "Auditor" level, for example. This would be very useful for code reviews and training.

As adoption increases and the base of citizen developers gets larger, I get more and more requests for copies of my apps for others to examine and learn from. Making safe copies that aren't connected to real, live data sources isn't that easy. It's pretty cumbersome, in fact. It would be nice if people could open an app in the studio, see how the sausage is made, but not be able to change anything.

I work mainly with canvas apps but perhaps this could apply to model-driven as well. I wasn't sure where to put this comment, so if there's a better thread, please let me know.

I have the same question (0)

@RacRig5407 It might be worth standing up a POC environment for 'research and development' purposes and perhaps deploy your solution(s) containing your apps in there in a managed state?

    Hi @RacRig5407 ,

    I think this is possible.

    • Login to Power Apps maker portal and navigate to the app you want to share.
    • Click on the "..." (more options) menu next to the app's name.
    • Select "Share".
    • In the sharing settings, add the email addresses of the colleagues you want to share the app with.
    • Choose the appropriate level of permissions. In your case, you would want to select "Can view".
    • You can choose to notify the users via email that you're sharing the app with them. This step is optional but can be helpful to let them know about the shared app.
    • Save the sharing settings and apply the changes.

When you share the app with your colleagues with "Can view" permissions, they will be able to open and interact with the app, but they won't be able to modify, edit, or save any changes to the original app.

@DeviKrishna Thank you for the reply, but could you possibly send a screenshot? I don't see any such options at all. Do you have to be a tenant admin or something to see these things? When I add a person, the level defaults to User. I can change them to Co-Owner, but there is no option to say "Can view".
