Create Environment on behalf of - Using Power Automate Cloud Flow

Hi Community,

I want to built a flow that creates an environment on behalf of somebody using my admin account and power automate cloud.

The standard "create environment" action does not contain any option for the "behalf of" setting.

I saw that the Power Platform CLI command does contain an option with the --user argument. Is it possible to use Power Platform CLI Commands via a cloud flow?

Or is there any other way to achieve this?

Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi @BennyS27 ,

To create an environment on behalf of somebody using your admin account in Power Automate, you can utilize the Power Platform CLI commands. Unfortunately, Power Automate cloud flows do not directly support CLI commands. However, you can integrate CLI commands into your automation workflow using Azure Logic Apps or Azure Functions. This allows you to trigger CLI commands within your cloud flow to achieve your desired functionality.

Check this link for CLI commands - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/developer/cli/introduction?tabs=windows

Mark as solution if it helps.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep Mishra

Thank you for your fast response. We do not have possibilities to create logic apps or functions unfortunately.

Do you know if there is any reason why this standard functionality hasnt been integrated to power automate admin directly? Or is there any timeline when this feature will become available? It is strange to see that the API backend seems to be existing but the power automate frontend is still missing.

    Hi @BennyS27 ,

With the 'HTTP with Azure AD' connector, you can send requests to the Power Platform Environments API to perform actions such as creating environments, managing permissions, or retrieving environment details.

    Link - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/webcontents/

    Please mark solution.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep

I just checked and apparently our CLI version does not support the "--user" option for the environment creation, nor have I found an API method to create this environment with this option 😕

That's a pity, especially because it seemed so easy with the Create Environment Power Automate Action but its missing details.

Thanks a lot anyway so far!
