Exporting content from a file into an email

Hi all,

I have a flow connected to a MS form, the idea is when the MS form is completed an attachment is added - this will be either a Word document or a PDF.
I need my PA flow to take the content from the attachment and send through the content as an email. My flow already grabs the file metadata, file content and create a file on SharePoint however I can't seem to work out how to have the content sent in an email - I don't want the email to be sent with an attachment.

I hope this makes sense?

At this point, the connectors for SharePoint/Word/OneDrive etc. do not support reading content from a PDF or word document directly.

Below are two options you can use:
    1. Create a Power Automate Desktop flow - This would allow you to configure actions to open the document, copy content from the file using keyboard keys and pasting the content in the email actions. (for PDF, you may have to use OCR)

    2. Use AI models and OCR for PDF and Azure Functions for word documents and use that in Power Automate cloud flows to extract the data.

Either way, you will have to setup some additional resources to implement this.

    Hope this Helps!

    Hi @yashag2255,

    1. Would not be a viable option in this case as for:
    2. Use AI models and OCR for PDF and Azure Functions for word documents and use that in Power Automate cloud flows to extract the data.  - Which AI models can I utilise that will work with Power Automate?

The out of the box available AI models in Power Platform may not be of use here (you can try using the Recognize Text in Image or Document action).

For better results though, you can try using the OCR resources in Azure (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/computer-vision/overview-ocr

Another option is using a third party connector like Encodian. You can find the example setup for word and PDF here:

    Hope this Helps!
