Hello,

I am new to Power Automate and have viewed other threads related to populating a word template from a table in excel and I have used the Co-pilot wizard to help me build a flow. When I search for the template in my onedrive folder I am not able to see the .dotx or .dotm files. I followed the instructions as described here: Solved: Automating Excel to Word - Power Platform Community (microsoft.com)

I get an error when I try to select a .docx file. That error is:


Failed to retrieve dynamic inputs. Error details: 'The dynamic operation request to API 'wordonlinebusiness' operation 'GetFileSchema' failed with status code 'BadRequest'. This may indicate invalid input parameters. Error response: { "status": 400, "message": "The selected file doesn't contain template elements.\r\nclientRequestId: a4eec9d8-8758-47f6-943c-e19af9491c34", "error": { "message": "The selected file doesn't contain template elements." }, "source": "wordonlinebusiness-eus2.azconn-eus2-002.p.azurewebsites.net" }'

I have uploaded both .dotm and .dotx formatted versions of the intended destination document for the data from the excel table.

    Hi @marykmurray ,

The word template is a docx file , you could add some content controls into the file and use the file as a word template.

In addition the Microsoft Word (Business) connector doesn't currently support the following content controls:

    • Rich Text Content Control
    • Building Block Gallery Content Control
    • Date Picker Content Control
    • Check Box Content Control
    • Legacy form controls

    Best Regards,
