I am building my first Model Driven App and using custom page. How do I make the custom page created in the canvas power app to be the default page that customers will see first?

You can make a custom page the default screen of your MD app, by making sure it is at the top of the navigation.
By default, the first screen in the app will be displayed:

The users can individually change the default screen via Personalization Settings.
