Power Automate - creating flow to delete unnecessary back up files for certain software

Dear Power Automate Users,

I’m a beginner in Power Automate and a keen learner. I’m currently trying to create a flow that identifies certain software backup files and deletes them on a weekly basis.

We use Autodesk Revit, and every time we work on a project, it generates backup files (typically with extensions like *.000(number).rvt or *.000(number).rfa). These files are not essential and tend to consume a significant amount of disk space over time.

I’d really appreciate your help in setting this up.

Warm regards,
Deepan

Where does it store these files? That makes a big difference in what actions to use to delete them.

    1. Create a Scheduled Flow, set it to run every morning at .. whatever time 5 AM or something
    2. In SharePoint use Get Files (properties only) and make sure to set it to get the sub items
and add a Filter for the Date, and the extensions
    3. Add an apply to each with input from #2
3b. Inside the loop Add a Delete File, with the ID or Path to the file coming from Step 3, the loop iteration

    Done

Please put together a flow based on that and if you need help with what to fill in feel free to ask, but if you aren't using SharePoint, but OneDrive then use the OneDrive actions instead, if its local files then its a totally different solution

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely, Michael Gernaey

You don't need to use Power Automate for that. Create a PowerShell script.
