Sending Email When Status Changes - Not Working

Hey Friends,

I created a simple flow that sends an email out when the status column value changes to approved.   Its kind of works.  I only wanted an email to be sent when the one value in the status column changes.  In my case, that is working, but my flow is also sending an email for any modification to the file itself. (so I am getting hundreds of emails).  What am I missing?  Thank you.

    Also, I need to do more testing to validate, but it seems its only when I open a document and make any changes, does the flow keep firing off emails, even though I am not changing the status column.  When other members of my team make changes to any document is does not fire off a ton of emails and only does when the status column changes.

    Any thoughts on my my flow sends notifications for every change to the document vs just when the status column changes.. Thank you

    I have this exact problem! I actually thought for a second that I may have already posted this question in the community because your post started with the exact same words I would type in a post about this. Anyways, did you ever get resolution to the problem?

    You probably need to add an Odata filter query on the trigger conditions so it only triggers when someone updates that status field
    Hit the 3 dots on top of that trigger condition condition (when the item is created or modified)
    Go into settings
    Down the bottom there will be trigger conditions

    You will need to look up the actual syntax but I'm guessing it will be allong the lines of
    @equals(triggerOutputs()?['Body/Status/Value'], 'Approved')

    To try and break that down
    @equals(triggerOutputs()?['Body/ -- that refers to the trigger event
     Status/Value'],  -- that the specific field we want to check
    'Approved') -- This is the value we are looking at

    so this would mean that the flow would only trigger if the status field is changed to approved any other changes will not trigger the flow
