@donovan123 Have you considered creating a matrix of approvers based on the user filling out the form or based on the selections made by the user? This would avoid the need for the user to manually select the approver.

You can build this matrix either in an Excel table or in a SharePoint list—whichever you prefer.

If the requirement is to have the user manually enter a user (or multiple users) each time they fill out the form, then could you request the user to enter the email address only? This way you don't need to search for a user and you can just use the email address(es) entered by the user.
