External users / charging for access

Hi,

 

I am running a consultancy business and I want to charge my clients for using an app I have developed.

 

I would add them as a guest user to my AAD and charge them a monthly subscription for access that would cover my additional licensing costs required for the additional guest accounts.

 

This means they don’t have to go to the trouble of setting it up themselves.

 

I want to make sure there are no licensing rules Microsoft has for prohibiting this kind of use case.

 

I cannot find anything clear on this type of situation.

    Howdy Michael,

     

    None that I've run into or read, you shouldn't have any issues. Here is the Microsoft Documentation for you too: Share a canvas app with guest users (contains video) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn

    This is easy enough to do and common, it will cost you additional licensing mostly if your app uses Dataverse (except Dataverse for Teams). 

    One tip I have is to make sure your app belongs in your environment and not the external one. For example, if you made an app that tracks your customer orders or deliveries, that makes sense for your setup and purpose!

    hi Michael - can I ask how you did this - charge guest users a monthly subscription to your AAD. 

    I am wanting to build a paywall around a Power BI report, eg embedded in Power Pages, and wonder how to go about that.
