You’re not imagining it — this behaviour used to work, but in the newer Power Pages design experience, moving a page to “Other pages” does NOT automatically remove it from the site’s Main Navigation anymore.
This happens because navigation is no longer driven directly by the page tree.
Instead, the site now uses Navigation Menus, which are separate editable components.
So when you move a page out of the Main Navigation section in the Pages tree, the navigation menu does not update automatically.
✅ Why this happens
Power Pages now supports multiple navigation menus, and each menu is manually configurable.
Because of this:
These two are no longer automatically linked.
✅ What you need to do
To remove the page from the visible navigation:
1. Open Power Pages Studio
2. Go to: Styling → Navigation
(or Set up → Navigation depending on your version)
3. Edit the Main Navigation menu
You will see a list of links that appear in the header.
4. Remove the page manually
Delete the link or update it as needed.
Once you remove it from the navigation menu, it will disappear from the site.
❗ Why it used to work before
In the classic Portal Management era:
In the new design studio:
-
Navigation is decoupled
-
You can have multiple menus
-
Navigation is now a content component, not a reflection of the page hierarchy
So the old behaviour no longer applies.
⭐ Summary
-
Moving a page to “Other pages” no longer updates navigation automatically
-
This is expected behaviour in the new Power Pages experience
-
You must manually edit the Navigation Menu to remove or reorder links
