Planner Task Completed Send Email to task Creator

I am looking to send an email confirmation when a planner task has been completed to the original task creator, when a planner project is completed. Flow recently added the "When a task is completed trigger" But the supplied. fields are only Created By User Id and Created B User Display Name. So somehow I need to convert this into an email address from what I can tell.

My plan was to use the display name and lookup users and find the matching display name to the list of office 365 users. When I tried to implement this, every single user didn't match so I backed up and just had flow send me the name of the Created By User Display Name on completion and the field is null.

What am I doing wrong why is this value null. Any insights as to why planner doesn't know the task creator?

    Hi @rv,

The issue is confirmed on my side. When I use “Create a task” action to create a task on my side, I get the “Created By User Display Name” dynamic content, but it is still null.

I have post this issue to Microsoft Flow Teams, if the issue is solved, I will reply to you.

    Best regards,

    Kris

I'm trying to achieve the same - send an email to the "Creator". It would also be useful to have a dynamic variable for "Assigned to".

    Onwards.

I found what appears to be a work around for this:

Between the two items in your flow add: "Get user profile"

Then use the "Created by User ID" variable for the User(UPN) field.

You should now have access to all profile information for that user
