SharePoint - Create an approval request with custom sender

Hello,
I have a PowerAutomate flow that I use to send approval requests when a SharePoint item is added or modified.

I use the action "Create an approval request for an item or file"

So I receive a Teams notification, but I notice something:
Instead of the author of the item sending the request, I am marked as the creator of the approval.

I understand why it works this way: the connector is connected to my account, so I am the creator, but is there a way to make the author of the item the creator of the approval?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

    Hello,

I believe the only way you can make the user the creator of the approval is if you use the trigger "For a specific file" or some other manual trigger in SharePoint. Then you could select the users connection for that step.

But since its always running as your account, the best you could do is put the users email as "Requestor", which you can find if you expand the create approval step.

    Hello,

    Thanks for the quick answer.

However, I believe the "Requestor" setting is only available in the "Standard approvals" connector for the "Create an approval" action, and not in the "Create an approval request for an item or file" from the "SharePoint connector".

I wanted to use this connector and action as it basically links the approval process to item in the list, and I can keep the approval history by using this.

If I use the "Create an approval" action from the "Standard approvals" connector, is there a way for me to link this approval process back to the sharePoint List item ?

Yes, you can create the approval, then the flow will wait for the approval to complete (Max 30 days), and then continue with the run, so it still knows what item its linked to.
