We want to be able to send an email to an individual when there has been new information input into a document in teams. Can this be set up? If so, can I get a step by step guide on how to get this accomplished.

Thanks,
Mandy

Documents uploaded to Teams are either stored in the OneDrive of the person who uploads the file (chats) or saved to a folder in the SharePoint document library associated with a channel. Is the document in a channel or in a chat? How you approach this depends on where the file is located.

Also, note, that most people are not going to provide a complete step-by-step guide to do something. The forums are designed for answering specific issues rather than a place to provide training or free consulting services. With that said, what you want to do is not too difficult if the file is stored in the folder associated with a channel. In that case, the high-level steps would be:
    1. Create a flow that triggers when a file is modified (properties only).
    2. Configure the trigger to point to the channel folder where the file is stored.
    3. Then use a send e-mail action to send the notification.

I'm sorry, I meant files that are kept on micosoft teams for everyone to modify or see.

As I mentioned, files are not stored in Teams itself. They are either stored in OneDrive or SharePoint. This doesn't provide much more details on that, but this is the documentation from Microsoft: File storage in Microsoft Teams - Microsoft Support
