Conditon - create a teams channel with form response name or post in teams channel with the already existing name

Hey all,

First ever post!

I'm building a flow that triggers from form responses and ends up adding a bunch of tasks to peoples planners, creates teams channels. This process by nature needs to start over several times but i want all the communication to remain in the same place. So i'm trying to create a condition where the 1st time a channel is created named from a form response, and then any subsequent submissions will instead just post to the already existing channel of that same name.

I've tried a few ways and not been successful so turning to the community.

Here is the current flow structure.

Apply to each output selection is "channel list"

Condition teams display name is equal to form response

Am i on the right path? Or is there a completely different way i should be considering?

@Justin4 The List channels action returns an array of Channels for the selected team. The Apply to Each action in your flow is looping through each of those channels and running a condition check. Instead of looping through each of the channels returned and running a condition check. It's much more efficient to use a Filter Array action to filter out the channel that matches (what i'm assuming is) the selection made in your MS Form.

I would also recommend you toggle off the New Designer as it's still a bit buggy and use the Classic Designer. Especially when it comes to working with the MS Form Trigger and Action.

In the meantime, refer to this YT Tutorial to learn more about how to use the Filter Array action: Are you using the Microsoft Power Automate Filter Array Action wrong?

In this video tutorial I’ll show you 3 practical ways to use the Filter Array action and how to use it properly.

    1️⃣ Cross-Referencing Data

    2️⃣ Filtering by Key

    3️⃣ Substring Matching

Did you know that the Condition action has a limit of 10 conditions? Although it might look like the Filter Array action can only accept one condition—this is not true. By using the advanced mode you can enter multiple conditions into a Filter Array action with an expression.

I've attempted the filter array option and not quite figuring it out.

In order to post a message to existing team channel I need the ID. I can see the filter array output raw data getting the Team ID. Now what type of expression do I need to get ID in the post a message action?

@Justin4 Please refer to the section in the tutorial (linked above) that covers how to get dynamic content from the filter array action.
