Cannot assign owner to task in Planner

I am getting error "404 Not Found. Referenced User or Group (xyz@companyname.COM) is not found" when I try running a flow.

The Flow is supposed to create a task in Planner for selected items from Sharepoint site. The task in Planner should be assigned to the Owner of the item in Sharepoint.

The flow runs succesfully if there is no project owner assigned in the flow. But it will assign all tasks in planner to the one that triggered the flow which I don't want.

I looked for solutions and found that I should add the entire organization to the flow ??? I do not understand how to do that or if it is actually going to solve the issue.

I would really appreciate help on solving this problem.

    Hi @RUION,

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

The screenshot of the flow as below:

    Capture.PNG

The flow would run successfully as below:

Please make sure the email address xyz@companyname.COM is an available email address. And please distinguish between uppercase and lowercase letters in the email address.

    Best regards,

    Alice

    Hi Alice,

Thanks for looking into this issue.

You mention that I have to distinguish between upper and lower case when typing the email address.  I don't type the email address anywhere.  In the Sharepoint where I create the list items and assign the Project Owner, the email address is fetched from the name that I type (format of email is: Firstname.Lastname@companyname.com). In Flow, I pull the Project Owner field from Sharepoint in the Assigned UserID field when Create Task.

When I test the flow, I noticed that the error message displays the email address written in upper case: FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME@COMPANYNAME.COM  -- Can this be the issue? And if so, how do I solve this?

I have also tested by putting my own email address in upper cases in Assigned UserID field and the flow failed again with the same error message

"Referenced User or Group (EMAIL) is not found.",

    Regards,

    Sandra.

    Hi @RUION,

Could you please share a screenshot of the configuration of your flow?

Could you please share more details about the run history when the flow run failed?

Please share more details so we would try to provide a proper workaround for you.

    Best regards,

    Alice

    Hi!

I have some issues with a simular flow, when i create a task in outlook i want to automatically create a task in planner where the assignee is equal to the owner of the task...

    Flow:

    1. Outlook tasks - When a task is created

    2. Action  - Create a task (Planner)

Assignee (planner)  = OWNER (Outlook task)

But when i do this, the flow fails everytime...

All other information can be added easily (subject, due date, start date, ...) but when i add the owner in the assignee field the flow fails.
