Hello Microsoft Community,

I hope you're all doing well. I have a question regarding Microsoft Forms and Excel integration.

I'm currently working on a project where I need to automatically populate data in a Microsoft Form based on a unique ID selected by the user. The data resides in an Excel sheet, and I want the form to fetch and display the corresponding row in Excel when the user selects a unique ID.

Specifically, I would like to know:

  1. Is it possible to configure Microsoft Forms to automatically pull data from an Excel sheet based on a unique ID selected by the user?

  2. If yes, what would be the recommended approach or steps to achieve this integration?

I've looked into Microsoft Power Automate, but I'm not sure if it's the right tool for this scenario. Any guidance, tips, or examples would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

What you want to do is not possible. The closest you could get would be to use the pre-filled response feature: Pre-fill Responses in Your Microsoft Forms | Microsoft Community Hub.

    Hi there,

We can implement partial automation for your use case using Power Automate Desktop.

Here’s an overview of the approach:

    1. Create a Microsoft Form: Design your form with dropdown values and any additional fields you need.

    2. Set Up a Desktop Flow: In Power Automate Desktop, create a flow that mirrors the dropdown values from the Microsoft Form.

    3. Fetch and Fill Data: Based on the selected dropdown value, retrieve data from an Excel file and use it to populate fields in the Microsoft Form using web automation actions.

    4. Attended Automation: Note that this solution will function in attended mode only, requiring user supervision during execution.

    Thanks,
    Deenu
