Approval is always declined

Hi,

Just started working on simple approvals. I have this flow that triggers when a form is submitted.

However, whether the approver approves or declines the flow, it always goes down the declined route, any ideas?

The Start and wait fir an approval type is Approve/Reject - First to respond

The condition is the default is equal to Approve. So why isn't it going down the TRUE line? Whether i approve or decline, it's going down the FALSE line.

which dynamic content you are using? is it the outcome dynamic content ? if not try to use outcome dynamic content.

Not sure what you mean:

1) User submits an MS form
2) Get response details = response id
3) Start and wait for an approval = approve/reject - first to respond
4) Condition = body/resourceData

in the 4th point where you adding condition, you have to use this condition instead of body/resourceData

Thanks Nived, that works great, i tested both approval and reject and now its working.
To expand on this, in the "Start and wait for an approval" step, while learning i hardcoded the Assigned To email address. I want to somehow dynamically assign the approval to multiple people FROM THE SAME DEPARTMENT as the user who submitted the form. I have an Active Directory group with all approvers for all departments in it.
Is it possible to get the DEPARTMENT of the Form Submitter (lets say HR) and then send the approvals all Approvers from HR in the AD group?

Hi @Sharpharp

There is one way to get department of one who submitted the form , ie by using office 365 actions

see below

Use search for users to search that user who submitted the form by responder's email which is output of get response details action.

Now in a compose action write the below expression to get the department of that user

Expression - first(outputs('Search_for_users_(V2)')?['body/value'])?['Department']

Output of Search for users is an array, from that array we are taking first element out of which we are taking Department property.

Hi Nived,

Great stuff, I add that into my workflow as follows and validates fine. How do I then match the department of the Submitter with the department of approvers in an Active Directory Security Group to send the Approval too?

Here's what it looks like now:

I presume something needs to go in before the Start and wait for an approval step, as the "Assigned To" field will need to be a dynamic list of approvers to send the approval too, but not sure how I do that
Really appreciate the clear step by step, massive help so far!!!

Hi Nived,
We currently have AD Security groups populated with Approvers, so I was hoping to simply:
1) Check the Department of the user sending the request
2) Doing a Member Lookup in a specified Active Directory Group and return a list of Approvers within that AD group who match the department of the Submitter.
3) Send the Approval request to all Approver Department matches to authorise the request, First to approve.
4) Once approved, send an email to submitter etc etc
