Move attachment from one list to another

Greetings Flow Community! Today I am seeking help to what I hope will not be a difficult issue, isn't that how we all start out thinking our problems are not difficult 🙂

I am setting up a sharepoint site for project owners to submit their projects to.  I have set up my sharepoint with lists, I say multiple lists because I have an approval flow.  Project owner submits their project, then it gets approved, and once approved the item is created in the second list.  The core of what the project owner is attaching, however, is an attachment, and I need the attachment to move to list 2 but have been unable to figure out how to do so.  Do you have any ideas how to do this?

My flow:

1) When new item is created

2) Start approval

3) Condition: Response=approval

4) If yes: Create item in list 2

The above successfully will "move" or copy the item to list 2, and have tried a number of different ways for steps 5 on, none of which have worked.  Hoping you can help.  Thank YOU so much for your time!

    Hi @dmason56,

Do you want to create both the item and attachments from List 1 to List 2?

Please take the following flow for a reference.

Trigger the flow by When an item is created in List A, then action Start an approval.

Under the If yes branch of the Condition, Get attachments from List A, use the ID from the trigger. Then Get attachment content, an Apply to each will be automatically added. Use the Id from the trigger, File identifier from the action Get attachments.

Then create item in List B, adding attachment to the item in List B.

    Please check the following screenshots:

    Hi Mabel,

THANK YOU so much for your help.  That works!! I now have the item AND attachment in list B with your help.  Is it possible to move the item to list C if I change the status column value? (ie.I have a column with status values, when item is added to List A the Status=Project Submitted, when item is added to List B this is our "agenda" for a meeting during which projects that are approved will change to Project Approved and need to move to List C). I also have a List D and this will only be needing to move here after meeting happens and project is approved on List C. If there is a way to move the item based on status changing, this will be EVERYTHING I am needing to do, and will then replicate the steps for List D. I am SO so appreciative of your help with this!!

    Hi @dmason56,

If you want to move items based on status changing, I assume that a Condition is needed. Please try to add a Condition, then configure the Condition as if the status value equals to Submitted. Under the If yes branch, add the actions you want to proceed.

Please take a try with it.

    Best regards,

    Mabel Mao

DIrectly after the inputs you helped provide, I added:

    1) When a new item is created or modified in list B

    2) Condition-StatusValue="Approved"

    3)If Yes, send email

I did #3 as send email just for testing purposes to see if I could get 1 and 2 to work.  I could not get it to work, I have tried taking out #1 and still won't work.

I am unclear myself how to move multiple attachments.  My project I am working on has since expanded to where I will need to attach multiple files as well, so I am in same bucket as you.

Can anyone provide a suggestion as to how we can modify my flow to move multiple attachments in a list item to another list with all attachments?  The way it is currently written it will create an individual item for each attachment.

Idea is item #1 in list #1 is created with 4 attachments, once item #1 is approved I want to create the item in list #2 and move all attachments to Item #1 in list #2.

Thank you so much for your help!

Maybe Microsoft made some update to the flow API but for me, it worked when I used AbsoluteUri instead of Attachment Content in the  File Content field instead of Attachment Content.  But for the most part, it worked.  Thanks a million whoever you are.

    Hi @dmason56 ,

I am a bit late of this thread. I have same requirement as @dmason56

    1. Approval workflow kicks in when item is created. Requester can see his own record. Admin group can see all the records.

    2. Once item is approved, move that item from List A to List B. Copy file attachments, too.

    3. requester can still access and make changes on items that belong to him/her at List B.

    My question to @dmason56  is

Does requester still need to access List B at your requirment? If so, how do you manage their access right? When approved item is copied from list A to list B, "created by" and "modified by" values are changed with person who approve the item. When those values are overwritten, requester cann't see the item anymore. How did you overcome this?

Greatly appreciate if you can share your work on this aspect.

    Thanks in advance.

    joe
