Power Automate License Type needed - Context of D365 or no?

I seem to need a bit of help understanding the license needs with a Power Automate Flow in a specific context. I will outline the specific use case and pertinent details below:

  • User has a Dynamics 365 Business Central Essentials license.
  • A Power Automate Flow is created with the Business Central "when a record is created" trigger.
  • The Flow uses the HTTP (premium) connector to both pull information about the order from one table, and then patch the order in another table.

I see that the licensing guide notes that the Dynamics 365 licenses include Power Automate use rights for the purpose of customizing and extending Dynamics 365 applications. However, it is unclear to me if this would fall under that purpose, and also whether that covers Flow's with premium connectors (the HTTP connector).

Here is the section of the license guide I am referring to:

I suppose my question then is, does the user that owns this Flow need a Power Automate premium per user license or not?

    Hi @jritz ,

I believe you will be ok without an additional license based on the description and context you provided.

Great! I missed that in the table you provided. Thank you! Only hesitation I have is the wording of select D365 licenses. Is there somewhere we can see which select licenses those are?

The latest license guide notes Select D365 Pro & Ent. licenses.. is Business Central Essentials license one of those?

    Hi @jritz ,

Page 17 in the table for the April 2024 Licensing Guide.  It says it covers Premium and Custom.  I think you are safe as long as the tables you want to work with are inside D365.
