How to advance sequence step for records?

I am able to connect a sequence to a record via power automate following this documentation: Connect sequence to records in the sales accelerator | Microsoft Learn
However, the record is always connected to the sequence's first step (which makes sense), but I need for my record to be able to connect to a later step if desired (for example if I need it to be on step 4). I'm wondering if there is a way to accomplish this with any means (can be a power automate flow or process or anything not manual because I have tens of thousands of records to do this for).
Alternatively, if I use that power automate flow to do the initial sequence connection for all of my records and have them all on the first step - starting from that point, is there some way to advance specific records to a later step?

Also an additional question - according to the screenshot I posted below, does anyone know what the Source and AdvancedToOtherSequenceTargetStepId fields are?
I tried putting in random values for Source but it appears to have no effect that I can notice.
As for the AdvancedToOtherSequenceTargetStepId field, the wording makes it seem to do exactly what I am hoping to accomplish (which is to advance to the sequence target step that I want), but supplying an Id to my desired step doesn't seem to do anything and the record remains on the first step
