Will Power Automate Handle High Volume Form Submissions (1000+ Responses) Smoothly?

Hi Community,

I’ve built a Power Automate flow that is triggered "When a new response is submitted" from a Microsoft Form. The flow performs the following steps:

  • Extracts data from the response
  • Runs a chart creation script (Excel script)
  • Sends an email with the generated chart attached

It works perfectly during testing and small-scale use. However, I’m now preparing for a large-scale rollout where over 1000 people may submit the form, possibly around the same time, like in a conference or some other gathering

I want to ensure that the flow handles this load smoothly failures, or delays.

Could anyone help me understand the following:

  1. Is there a limit to how many times a flow can be triggered per minute/hour/day?
  2. Are there performance concerns when 1000+ users submit the form simultaneously?
  3. Should I consider adding delay mechanisms or other factors to avoid issues?
  4. Any settings or best practices I should configure in the flow or in the environment?

Any suggestions or recommendations from your experience would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

    Hey @AGBT900,
Microsoft Power Automate can handle a high volume, but there are trigger and execution limits depending on your licensing and environment.
Microsoft Forms + Power Automate Trigger:
The “When a new response is submitted” trigger is poll-based, not instant. It checks every minute by default (not real-time), so submissions may be queued or delayed during peak activity.

    Trigger Frequency (per license):
    • Per-user plan: Up to 5000 runs/day.
    • Per-flow plan: Higher thresholds.
    • Concurrency limits may slow down runs if 1000+ are triggered at once.
    You can review your limits
