Preserving Formatting when using an Adaptive Card for an Approval

I've had an issue where my flow is Start approval - update list item (necessary) -> wait for approval, but if the user responds too quickly, the wait for approval errors. So I opted to turn off notifications, then add a branch parallel to "wait for approval" that creates a delay, then posts an adaptive card to a chat.

However, this destroys half of my formatting, doesn't appear to have the item link anymore, and doesn't show the title of my approval in the notification pane. It seems like my only options are to get rid of the entire process functionality I have based on this, or ask users to "wait 5 minutes before responding to an approval" to stop this issue from happening. Is there any other workaround?

This almost defeats the purpose of the start approval and wait for approval. Even with nothing between(ran my update item in parallel to the wait for approval) this has happened.

TIA

In instances where I need to update a list item and then wait for an approval, I update the item first and then send the approval. I cannot think of any reason why you would need to update the item after the approval is sent and before the wait for an approval action. In fact, I think putting anything between the Create an approval and wait for an approval action may be causing the error.

I need to extract the approval link to use elsewhere - you can't do that with a start and wait for an approval.

It accommodates it fine *unless* the recipient of the approval responds before the wait for approval processes. So then the only alternative is to turn off approval notifications, and instead generate an adaptive card you can manually delay for users to respond to instead. however, that poses the problems I listed.
