Power Automate - Connect with Business Central (on-premise)

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with connecting with connection Power Automate and Business Central (On-Premise).

I want to use this connector but I don't have instructions what to do if I get an error as in picture bellow.

Error which I get when I try to connect with this.

I have used my username and password, I have used web service token for password but nothing works.

Since I can't define On-Premise Gateway for connection maybe some problem is with firewall or something?

This happens when I try to connect with OData:

Test connection failed. Details: The remote name could not be resolved. inner exception: An error occurred while sending the request. inner exception: The remote name could not be resolved.

After changing the FQDN to IP adress I get this error:

Test connection failed. Details: BadGateway

Only thing that I can think of is that I need to turn on SSL in Business Central for this to work.

Hi Dino, did you install gateway to connect to the on-prem Business Central service? It is not clear in the question if the gateway is installed.

Hello @JatinSanghvi,

I have also tried this instructions:

I have enabled API then I have tried to connect with:
https://server:7048/BcTest/api/v1.0
I have the same result 502 Bad Gateway.
I can access it via Postman I get 200 response.

I have also tried connect ODatav4 which is available:
https://server:7048/BcTest/ODatav4/

@filipovicdino error you shared in first post is complaining about webServiceUrl is not a valid URI. Can you please make sure value you are entering is a valid URI. For 502 error code, can you please share clientRequestId

Hi @shyamsu & @JatinSanghvi,
I have built custom connector for this purpose because then I can select gateway to which I want to connect this custom connector.
I have on-premise gateway on Business Central server and with this it is functioning correctly.
But why I can't connect Business Central (On-Premise) I don't know and why I can't select gateway there?

Dear @filipovicdino ,

my assumption is that in order to use the BC On-Prem Connector my BC API Endpoint must be published on the internet, since the data gateway cant be configured which would tunnel the connection between my on premise system and the cloud.
Do you agree?

So if dont want to publish the api I have to go the custom connector route. Do you have any supporting documents how to set it up for BC?

Hi @Niko, I don't have documentation since I don't work for that company anymore but steps are as follow:
Create Custom Connector:
- Best way to build Custom Connector was to use Postman but if you upgrade Postman client you no longer can export Collection in right version
- You can use Postman for testing then when you confirm that you exposed right Page and right requests are working you need to add that to custom connector
- On Business Central side you just need to expose Page which you want to use for integration, it is really simple in API
- I had the same problem that I could not use Postman Collection and import it but I have added manual actions into Custom Connector with requests that I have built on Postman
- When you create Custom Connector don't forget to turn on tick on On-Premise
