Power automate desktop fails when it executes via SplashTop

Hi All

I am facing a problem when I execute a flow on PAD via SplashTop.
The flow executes open explorer window(send keys {LWin}{E}).
The flow fails on above situation, however when I exectute same flow via RDP, it works fine.

Does anyone know why PAD flow flow fails under some remote desktop connection.
Best regards

Not familiar with SplashTop, but maybe it is not in focus so the send keys are not sent to the window?

If you are automating remote/rpd session you might want to learn about dedicated PAD agent for this very purpose.

This way you can automated using regualr actions / UI elements instead of sendkeys

    HI momlo san

    Thank you for your reply.

The PC which execute PAD is real PC and not vertual PC.

While I execute the flow at real PC, it works fine, so I don't think that the flow won't lost window focus.
I wonder why the flow fails only when I connect via kind of remote desktop.

    Best regards

I'm not sure I understand, is the below correct?

    1. You are sitting in front of the "computer A" where PAD runs and executes actions - it works
    2. You are sitting at home, you connect to "computer A" via RDP, PAD runs on that "computer A" - it works
    3. You are sitting at home, you connect to "computer A" via SplashTop, PAD runs on that "computer A" - it does not work

    If my understanding is correct:

    • SpalshTop is messing up with session, so rather issue with this app than PAD i would say
    • If PAD is always executed on this local machine -why do you use send keys to open explorer instead of using Folder actions? You can open folder without the need to use send keys if PAD is running natively on the machine.

    Hi momlo san

    Thank you for your reply.

    Your understand is correct.

I find its root couse. In SplashTop, I checked [Prevent keyboard and mouse when remote access is established].

The test flow executes [Send keys] action, however remote "computer A" does not accept this action, finally the flow fails to work.

I guess RDP has not this kind of security, so when I access via RDP, the flow works well.

I thank your reply helped me to find this issue.

    Many thanks.

    Best regards

Great that you have found the solution, please mark the post as resolved.

On another note, I advise you look into possibility to replace send keys with dedicated actions - send keys should be used as a last resource 🙂
