Power Automate Approval Notification email duplicates but not on every run

I have a multi level approval flow that incorporates the start and wait approval.  On some of the runs it is sending multiple emails to the user to notify them of their waiting approval although it is only generating one approval (as expected).  It is happening at all different approval levels within the flow and is not happening on a majority of the runs and not always the same users.  I can see no errors on the run during or after completion.  Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

    It's not actually failing it's just sending multiple emails on the request.  The emails are generating the correct info and they link to the approval (just one).

    Hmm, I don't see anything wrong with the flow. I tried to replicate the flow and tested it but haven't experienced that duplication of email notifs. Sorry, I don't have idea or fix for that issue. Let's wait for others help.

    I'm having the same experience with all of my approval flows. The flows are running successfully and generating only a single approval request, but the start and wait for approval action is sending twice daily emails on pending approvals rather than the expected single notification when the request is initiated. It adds up to a lot of emails for some people and is causing some major irritation.

    Is this happening to all of your runs?  If so you may want to check if you have your approvals after your apply to action.  It could be because your trigger is not filtered enough and you may be pulling multiple instances or generating more than one approval for one instance.  Just something to check.

     

    Mine are not happening on every run and just started happening a few weeks ago although this flow has been in place for some time.  Is it the same situation for you?

    Thanks @Amy3 . It does seem to be happening on all of my runs across several different approval flows. My start and wait for approval action is not inside an apply to each, and only one approval is being created within a single run, yet generating two email notifications per day at exactly the same two times of day. I'm not sure exactly when it started happening, as we just implemented the workflows a couple of weeks ago, and previous to that did not think to test the performance of approvals left in a pending status.

    Microsoft seems to have identified this as a bug and hopefully is implementing a fix.
