Power Automate - Building Flows

Flow that would need approval

Posted on by 95

Hi All

here is my scenario,

i want to be able to create a flow that  when a user submits a form  it then goes  their line manager for them to view and approve or decline, i would then want the user to receive a email update with the line managers decision and comments

Also if it was declined there would be a option for appeal

Can this be done  ( it would be good if the user could also add attachements although its no neccessary)

Take a look at this video from Reza Dorrani.  It provides a good in depth overview of approvals using Power Automate. Power Automate Approval Workflow Basics - YouTube

That would work also. The address just needs to come from somewhere. You'll also use questions in the form for uploading any attachments that need to be included.  The rest is pretty straightforward use of the regular actions in Power Automate.

what if the user was to add the email address of line manager in the form?

The only part of that which I think would be difficult would be if the user's line manager isn't listed in Azure Active Directory as their manager. You'll need somewhere to retrieve who the line manager is for each user. That's easy if its in AAD.  But if not there needs to be somewhere that you get that information from.  The rest can be done with Microsoft Forms as the initial form and regular Approval and Email actions in the flow.
