Excel file format/extension not valid after flow runs.

I created a flow between One Drive and SharePoint where if any files in One drive are modified the file in SharePoint will update. My problem is that after the flow runs successfully, the excel file in SharePoint will not open and says the file format or extension is not valid. The file will not repair or open. I have tried every solution. I have recreated the file, but the same thing happens after I run the flow.

Any suggestions.

@jhatchett Can you share a screenshot of your flow. It'll provide more insight and make it easier to provide recommendations.

    Hope this helps!

This is my flow, and this is the error I get when I try to open my SharePoint file after the flow runs. The file opens fine before I run the flow. Also, the SharePoint file is already connected to the One Drive files via Power Query. I just wanted a flow to automatically update the SharePoint file when updates are made to the One Drive files. My SharePoint file is also protected. Not sure if any of this is affecting the file after the flow runs.

@jhatchett You need to adjust the logic in your flow. This is the current logic of your flow:

    • File is modified in OneDrive
    • Update File with the Name and Path of the File
    • Send an Email (are you attaching anything here? or just sending an email?)

    Your logic needs to be:

    • File is modified in OneDrive
    • Get File Content (from OneDrive)
    • Update File (SP) with the File Content from the Get File Content action (aka get the file content of the OneDrive file)
    • Send an email

You need to add a Get File Content (OneDrive) action after your flow trigger.

    Hope this helps!

It worked once then it said my file was corrupted and would not open. I noticed that the File content I added for One Drive changed to Body by itself. I have changed it back to File Content several times, but it reverts back to Body.

@jhatchett Can you explain the multiple Get File Content actions? If you started editing your flow in the new designer and recently switched to the classic designer you might need to create a brand new flow. The new designer is still buggy and can still cause issues even if you've switched to the Classic Designer.

The multiple Get File Content actions are for the numbers if files in the One drive folder.

@jhatchett Could you explain the logic in your flow? I must be missing something. Your flow is being triggered when a file is modified. I assumed that you wanted to get the file content of the file that was modified and do something with that. I'm a bit confused about the other files you are getting. Can you provide some insights?

I have a One Drive folder with seven excel files in that folder. When any of the seven excel files are modified then I want them to update a single excel file in SharePoint that has the content of the seven excel files already.

@jhatchett So is your plan to have seven different flows to trigger each time one of those files are updated? The reason I'm asking is because the When a file is modified (properties only) trigger will only trigger on a SINGLE file.

The Update File action will update a single file with content from a single file. Is your intention to update a single file with content from multiple files?...

Yes, my plan was to update a single file from content from multiple files.
