Hi all, Im trying to make a flow that will:

  1. Strip an Excel attachment from an email with a particular subject line
  2. Save that attachment in the sharepoint site
  3. Read the attachment and add the rows from it to a predefined list
  4. Delete saved attachment

Ive got so far to step 2 (create a file) working but from googling widely it looks like i have to create a table before the file can be read but it doesnt seem to be working 😞

Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi @Rosie1

If you are confident working with an excel file and table to add items to your list, you can follow my video here https://youtu.be/ZejstvPiFZw which shows you how to accept an incoming excel file without a table, add the table based on an active range of rows/columns and then work from the file using Power Automate.

If you need any more help, let me know.

Please consider accepting my answer as a solution if it helps to solve your problem.

    Cheers

Ive got the file into the sharepoint site but now im stuck on 'When a file is created in a folder' it just times out.

I created a table within the excel file in the hopes it would solve the issue too but still struggling. 🙄

    Hi @Rosie1

Can you explain to me what has changed from your requirements and findings so far?  I am unclear if you have made any progress.  You had 4 requirements, you were up to point 2, I gave you a solution to create a table in an excel file received via email, have you tried this?

Why are you introducing when a file is created in a folder?  Do you have more than one flow?

It would help if you could share more details.

Ive followed your video but it doesnt get passed the 'run script' part. Im not quite sure the video is exactly what i need as i now have the file saved in the documents part of the sharepoint site. But cant get the flow to read the rows and put them in the list.

    Hi @Rosie1

The next part is to list the rows of the new table and then create items.  Because your file and table have just been created, there are no dynamic values to select.  Therefore you need to write expressions item()?['ExcelColumnName'] for each of the SharePoint List Columns that you want to populate with Excel Row Data.

    See below:

Ok the script is now running on a designated file in my one drive but it wont work on a file saved on the attachment that i save in sharepoint despite it being the same name of the file.

This is the flow im working with now which gets the error that it cant run the script or find the table.........🙄 Thanks for your help with this btw!
