Is there a way to ONLY approve new items on SharePoint list using Power Automate? I don't need approval for each version.

Hello - I posted the following in the Microsoft Community, however I was directed to post it here.

I am familiar with versioning and approvals on SharePoint. However, in this instance, I have a list and I only need approval for NEW items added to the list, not for each version. For example, a new item is added to the list. I need an owner to approve the item. Which they can do. However, if anyone changes anything such as another field for that record (item), the approval status reverts back to Pending. I don't need this to happen. Once approved, I want it to stay approved. Maybe this is not possible? Just looking for others input.

My alternative is to just create a column for approval and manually toggle from Pending to approved.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Mark,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description shared, I would like to summarize your requirement i.e., you would like the items to be approved only when they are created but not for next versions of the item.

If my understanding is correct, I would like to let you know that your requirement can be achieved by the Microsoft Power Automate flow, so I would like to suggest you to post your concern in the Microsoft Power Automate Community - Power Platform Community to get the flow details from the experts.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Mia | Microsoft Community Moderator

You could use the 'When an item is created' trigger.

Wouldn't that still require another approval each time that list item is changed?  That is what I want to avoid.  I want one approval and the line item in the list stays approved.
