Set variable not working

I'm trying to create a global variable under OnStart on the first screen. I'm typing: Set(var2;User().Email).

 

However the var2 variable does not get a value. Under File->Variables it is listed but it does not have a value. I've tried setting the value of the variable to a text-string or a number, nothing works... Any tips?

    The OnStart is only run when the app opens, even when you're in edit mode, so closing and re-opening the app will make it work.
