Automate email based on excel file update and criteria

Hello!

I need to create a way to send an email automatically to the same three recipients when a new row in this spreadsheet is updated and  Column L is  marked "yes" from the dropdown menu. I have tried to use Power Automate to the best of my ability, but am not getting anywhere with it.  Any suggestions? It passes through the flow checker, but fails when I test.

Here are the spreadsheet columns:

Here is my current workflow, some info has been redacted:

Any help in trying to get this to work would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi @CHeatley ,

Can you share the error message from the flow run failure?

    Hi @CHeatley

In "Update a row" action, the key column should be the unique value (may be ID or something else) in the table. You need to set the key or unique column name as plain text but its value from the output of current item (select from the dynamic content window). Click show all parameters button to view 'Ready to order' column and set its value as 'Yes' (without single quotes).

In "Send an email" action, pass the email addresses of 3 recipients (separated by colon) as the final step. This step should be placed outside the apply to each block.

If this helps & solves your problem, please remember to give a 👍 and accept my solution as it will help others in the future.

I am not sure what you mean by this: In "Update a row" action, the key column should be the unique value (may be ID or something else) in the table. You need to set the key or unique column name as plain text but its value from the output of current item (select from the dynamic content window).

    Can you further explain?

    Hi @CHeatley ,

The error message suggests that you are passing a string to the "For each" loop, while an array was expected. As you passed the dynamic content from the body/value property from "List rows present in a table" (which is an array), it must probably be a bug from Power Automate new designer.

I recommend you to disable the new designer, by just toggling this button in the top-right corner of your flow editor:

After disabling the new designer, insert again your loop and "Update a row".

Let me know if it works for you or if you need any additional help.

    @rzaneti

I tried that but it is still not working. All I really need the flow to do is to send an email whenever a new cell in column L is marked yes. Maybe that would simplify things?
