null value email

hi all,

any tips on how to deal with a null value causing a flow to fail, as below -

Action 'Send_an_email_(V2)' failed: The 'inputs.parameters' of workflow operation 'Send_an_email_(V2)' of type 'OpenApiConnection' is not valid. Error details: Input parameter 'emailMessage/To' is required to be of type 'String/email'. The source type/format 'Array' of the value  - the error emial field is - ,{"Email":null}

here is the flow -

incidentally, the email address shouldn't be 'null' as the source file has the email listed, it just isn't pulling through. But its wise to error trap this somewhere in case of an actual 'null' i guess.

thanks in advance

    While the run information is helpful, please show what is being passed through the compose unique email action if that is being used in the to field of the send email action. Also show how you have configured these two actions and if contains an expression, show the expression. Without this, our guess is as good as yours. The error message is clear; the value in the to field is null.

    Yes, the array is the issue. You need to join the items in your array with a semicolon to send it by e-mail. You would modify your union expression to join(union(body('Select_-_user_emails'), body('Select_-_user_emails')), ';')

    hi David

    the proposed revision still gives the email addresses with the additional, non valid, characters as per example:

    {"Email":"j@eay.co.uk"};{"Email":"Peter@n.co.uk"};{"Email":"Josh.R@ail.co.uk"};{"Email":"Cr.Hll2@nail.co.uk"};{"Email":"se@ml.uk.com"};

    how do i remove the preceding {"Email":" and the following "}?

    cheers
    Dan

    Since I cannot see what you are doing in your actions, I am not sure of the issue. Whatever you are doing is not creating a proper array. Otherwise, the union expression would return just j@eay.co.uk;Peter@n.co.uk;Josh.R@ail.co.uk;Cr.Hll2@nail.co.uk;se@ml.uk.com;

    It may be best to show how your actions are configured and explain where these e-mail addresses are coming from so someone can help you format them correctly.
