im working with PowerAutomate in Teams for something around 6 Months now and successfully built a solution that validates and manages some data.
The Project has/had different milestones like
- Validating a CSV Input File with PowerQuery Online in multiple steps,
- write a consistent error log with updates and first-/ last seen status,
- mail those errors to recipients
- solution for manual data fix/manipulation and finally
- long term storage of validated/ fixed datasets
I managed to get all the above listed tasks done, but boy it was a journey.
Im suggesting that at least a third of all the clicks ive had to do were unnecessary and only UI bugs.
I wrote down some examples and would like to get some Feedback from you guys and gals, maybe im missing something and there are tricks how to workaround the buggy UI.
Re-Naming Flows
So far there is no chance to rename a flow within PowerAutomate for Teams by using the UI.
If i click the change name and save it, the name switches back to its old name. I have to export the flow, delete the existing one and import the exported one. Magically the name changes to the one that wasn't displayed before.
Back to previous Page Button
Within the Flow Designer the "Back to previous Page" Button jumps straight back into the "Cockpit" View of all items within the solution. Once you've got there, you need to switch to "Cloud-Flows" and then back to the Flow to see the flow details.
This is a good example for unnecessary clicks in PowerAutomate/ Flows
Several language localization errors
Our UI is in German and at some points the translation is ridiculous misleading.
(to) "List Rows" (Verb) from the Dataverse connector ist translated as something like "Listrows" (Noun).
Data functions (Joins) even have to different translations (one in the selection screen, the other one in the flow screen) which both are misleading/ wrong (Something like "Shortcut" and "Entrance")
Maybe thats the problem for next thing too
Useless search bar in the Trigger/ Action Window
The search bar never shows the searched items, even if i search for the direct name of the trigger that im looking for.
Its absolutely useless at this point...
Restore Deleted Flows
It took me two weeks working together with an Microsoft support technician to figure out how to restore a deleted flow within PowerApps for Teams. The problem was that the restored flow (by using command line) wasn't shown within the teams environment. Since there was no "default solution" to access within teams, we had to build a custom URL that somehow showed the flow. I needed to download and fully rebuild it within PowerApps for Teams.
I do have a Post about this in the pipeline, to give Feedback for users with the same Problem, at the moment im waiting for a feedback of the technician about a custom/specific value in that custom URL.
UI Row Selection and the Pop Up "Dynamic content"
That one bugs me the most. Since i had to do several Data entries into the Dataverse, i had to fill in a lot of those Fields "New Row to Dataverse". The selection of a row/ empty Field is buggy as hell because the "Dynamic content" PopUp and InfoLine changes the location of the rows. Sometimes the selected field switches back to the previous one or the selection is not possible resulting in inputs in wrong fields/ columns.
Text Navigation Functions within the Input Fields
I've expected the standard MS Text navigation Functions/ Shortcuts to work.
(CTRL+Right -> jump to the end of the word, CTRL+ DOWN -> end of line etc.)
Most of them work, but only the one "SHIFT + Left / SHIFT + Right" to Highlight a textbit can only highlight two symbols. If i want to copy and paste a textbit i need to switch hands away from keyboard and need to select the textpart with the cursor.
Am i missing something, or do you encounter the same frustrating problems within PowerAutomate for Teams?
Does anyone has some suggestions where to address them properly or avoid them at all?
