Hello all!

I am making a model driven app with a timeline control to add attachments to rows in dataverse.

I want to disable the opportunity to download the attachments. I still want to have the quick view of the attachment.

Could you please help me?

Thanks!

    Hi @maltie01,

Here is a high-level approach to disabling the download of attachments in timeline control for a model driven app.

Creating a model-driven app with a timeline control that allows viewing but not downloading attachments is a very specific requirement.

    1. Customize the Timeline Control:

      • Access the Power Apps maker portal and navigate to your model-driven app.
      • Select the entity that contains the timeline.
      • Customize the timeline control to modify its behavior.
    2. Control Attachment Permissions:

      • Use JavaScript or Web Resources to intercept the download event.
      • Implement logic to prevent the download while still allowing the preview.
    3. Configure Security Roles:

      • Adjust the security roles in Dataverse to limit the permissions for downloading attachments.
      • Ensure that users have the ‘Read’ permission to view the attachments but not the ‘Write’ or ‘Create’ permissions that would allow downloading.
    4. Test the Configuration:

      • Test the app with users assigned different roles to ensure that the download option is disabled as intended.
      • Verify that the quick view functionality for attachments remains operational.
