Map Control: Use shapes to query locations?

Is it possible to use "Shapes" in maps to query a database for specific addresses/latitudes/longitudes?

For example, I have a Lead records stored in Salesforce. Would it be possible to circle an area via the map control and filter locations based on the circled area?
