Building a Flow with Approval

Hi,

I'm trying to build a Flow, where the trigger is a new approval request from app "Approvals".

1. I have created an "Approvals" template:

2. This template, after the creation on app Approvals, becomes available in Forms. So, using "Power Automate", I have selected "Forms>When a new response is submitted". This is the only way I found in order to have an approval submission as a Trigger.

3. So, as an action to the submission of this form (that is actually an approval template), I want to wait for the approvals in order to continue my flow.

I supposed that I would have to select the action "Wait for an approval". It request an Approval ID. What is this and where can I get it?

Long story short, what I'm trying to do is using a submission of an approval from app "approvals" as a trigger to start a flow.

Thanks,

Carlos Ramos

    Hi @CarlosMRamos ,

If you want to get the Approval ID, you need to create an Approval.

In addition, you could consider using the Start and wait for an approval Action.

    Hi Charlie,

Good morning and thanks for the feedback.

I need the approval submission to be the trigger that initiate the flow.

However, when I create a new flow, I don't have the possibility of using "Approvals" as a trigger.

That's why I created a template in approvals, and then I pull it as a trigger through forms.

On your example, I would receive an approval request when I submitted the form(via approvals), and I would receive a second request when I started a new "Start and wait for an approval".

I guess due to the impossibility of using an approval submission as a trigger, the best way will be to create a template(not linked with approvals) and then create a start and wait step as you suggest it.

Operationally, the user would have to select the form created in a channel and not using the template in approvals.
