My App can no longer be reached by users

Hi folks. I have a power app called 'Timesheets' that has been working fine for over 2 years now. This morning all my users can no longer access the app. I can still see it and use it but every other user gets the following message:

Failed to load Timesheet. The specified record was not found. Server response: Timesheet failed: Failed to read metadata from file source. Response from the end service is : Not Found clientRequestId: dd905fc5-635f-40e2-a680-849805f82943

The data is stored in an excel table and as I have said has been working flawlessly for a long time. It appears to be a data access issue, but the file is shared to everyone and user access hasn't changed since the app was created. Does anyone know what is going on? TIA.

    Hello,

these kinds of issues are hard to troubleshoot, but ill list some posible scenarios:

File moved or renamed: If the Excel file was moved to a different folder or renamed, the link in Power Apps may still work for you if you own it, but not for others.
Permission changes: Even if the file is still shared, the sharing link might have expired or changed.
OneDrive or SharePoint issues: If the file is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, there might be a change in how the file is accessed, such as URL or similar.
Connector issues: The Excel connector might be failing due to authentication or token expiry for other users of the app.

You could try asking some of the users to access the file directly, to see if that works, then we can rule out permissions.

Many thanks for your reply. I have checked the permissions and they seem to be fine. I have tried unconnecting the data and reconnecting it again and still the same issues.

Exact same problem here. I have a PowerApp that uses two separate Excel spreadsheets in a OneDrive for Business connection. The owner of the app can see all the data no problem, but everyone else gets the above error. I've rebuilt the connections, republished the app, verified all permissions are still there, etc. Still no luck. I've also sent a direct link of one of the spreadsheets to one of the app users and they had no problem opening the spreadsheet in Excel Online, ruling out direct access to the data being an issue.

I am seeing the exact same problem; what is changed?

We’re seeing the exact same error message here.

In our environment, multiple PowerApps and user accounts rely on the same setup—dropdowns populated from Excel data stored in a user’s OneDrive. The error occurs universally, except when the app is launched by the owner of that OneDrive.

Like others have already done, we also verified the Excel file permissions. Everything looks fine: users can access the file directly without issues. However, as soon as we go through PowerApps, it fails.

This strongly suggests that the issue isn’t tied to a specific account configuration, but rather to a global setting or variable that has recently changed.

We poked around in the Power Platform admin center yesterday and found a known issue where PowerApps is having "intermittent" communication problems with Excel Online, but that was it. We weren't positive that it was the same issue we're seeing, and despite our best efforts, couldn't get a ticket logged with our specific details. Does anyone know if this specific issue is being tracked and worked on by MS?

After some additional tests on a new application, it seems the issue is linked to the OneDrive for Business connector.

I tried switching to the Excel Online (Business) connector on the same file that previously failed, and it worked correctly.

However, this is only an explanation, not a viable solution — we cannot afford to modify all existing apps and rebuild their connections.

The main question is: why did it work before, and why has it suddenly stopped working now?

I'm experiencing the same issue. Every Power App with the data source in Excel on OneDrive displays the following error: "Failed to load FileName. The specified record was not found. Server response: FileName failed: Failed to read metadata from file source. Response from the end service is : Not Found clientRequestId: ..." Everyone except the user who owns the OneDrive account containing the Excel file receives the error. We noticed this on 8/20/2025 and these Power Apps have been working for years up through 8/19/2025. What is the solution?

It's now a full week that my users have been unable to use our app due to this broken connection issue. Has anyone found a solution? Does anyone know if Microsoft are working on a solution? TIA
