How to edit the flow to trigger a reminder for each item after x days?

Hello, my current flow will send a reminder to the designated approvers once every 3 days to remind them of outstanding items. How can I edit my reminder flow such that when an item is created or modified on the sharepoint list, it will trigger an email reminder to the approvers after 3 days if there is no action taken based on the specific item instead? Here’s a screenshot of my flow. Currently, I’m pulling data from 2 sharepoint lists. Need some advice, thanks!

@Anonymous  From the detail you gave about your process, I typically do these things differently.  I don't think triggering off the create/modify will give you what you want.  Whenever I do reminders, unless its context of an approval I have a separate flow where:

    • I have my flow running daily
    • Get all items where today = reminder day (which can be either an expression or you could use a calculated column in SharePoint to handle).
    • For each item, email your reminder or other actions

Here I am checking if the Due Date in my case is 7 days, 14 days, 30 or 60 days out:

One of the expressions is like this:

    addDays(body('Convert_UTC_to_EST'), 7, 'yyyy-MM-dd')

The Convert UTC to EST action is the OOTB action to convert time, but this could have easily be just utcnow().  Hope it helps!  Let me know if you need to discuss more.

Thank you! I'm planning to use the Modified date in my Sharepoint list to handle the reminder day. I realised the modified date may be reflected at "a few hours ago" or "yesterday at xx pm", ie, not in a date format. Will it be able to read the expression in my Filter Query on Power Automate? Here's a screenshot of how it looked like in my sharepoint list..

To answer your question, yes technically the date is stored in zulu format but what you see in the interface is a pretty format.  However my apologies but I don't understand how the modified comes into your 3 day reminder.  What exactly is your criteria for sending reminders?  3 days from created or modified or some other arbitrary date?  If so, again I would suggest doing it differently.

Your goal is to send a reminder only at the right specific day which for discussion purposes say its 3 days past the last modified date.  One way is to create a calculated column in the library called Reminder Date and have that formula be like =[modified]+3, and format the output as date.  Then have your Flow run daily, get all items where today = Reminder Date (as I showed above).  Then send reminder email.

Or you could bypass the Reminder Date in SharePoint and just do the 3 day calculation in an expression in Flow.  On the filter of the get files, you would say adddays(modified, 3) eq today.  That isnt exact but you get my meaning.

You don't need the flow to fire on created or modified if your only goal is to send a reminder of files for files that are due on a certain day.  If you want to discuss more, please go into more detail of your requirements so I can better recommend a solution.  Thanks!

Thank you for your advice! I wanted to use the flow to trigger the reminder notification if the item has not been actioned for more than 3 days. I have managed to get the reminder flow to work by adding this eqn - Modified le '@{addDays(utcNow(),-3)}' into my Filter Query.

    Thank you for your help!
