Duplicated rows - add / update row in excel when item is created or modified in sharepoint list

Kia Ora Team,

Please help. I am getting a duplication of 'IDs' in my excel table.

SunshineK_0-1600839100826.png

So I have created a flow where my information collected creates an item in a Sharepoint List.

I have then created a flow to add a row in an excel spreadsheet from the sharepoint list.

I want to update the row in the excel spreadsheet when changes are made in the Sharepoint List (specifically 'Area Management' & 'CommCen - notification')

The flow works however I am coming up with duplicates in my excel spreadsheet.

I suspect it is something to do with the add a row (second action) and list rows (third action).

I tried deleting list rows but I need it to run the flow.

However I can't delete add a row as I need that information to go into the excel spreadsheet.

Thanks again team for all the help.

    Hi!

I believe 'List rows' has a filter to identify rows with the target ID, right? Also the your condition evaluates if nr of rows matching it is equal to one, right? If true, update row. If false do nothing.

If so, I would move current 'add row' action block to the false branch of your Condition action block

    Hope this helps

    Hi @SunshineK , @efialttes ,

I think this duplication issue happens on the "Add a row into a table". This Power automate creates a row directly from both triggering scenarios "Creating" and "Modifying" based on the business requirement:

"So I have created a flow where my information collected creates an item in a Sharepoint List.

I have then created a flow to add a row in an excel spreadsheet from the sharepoint list.

I want to update the row in the excel spreadsheet when changes are made in the Sharepoint List (specifically 'Area Management' & 'CommCen - notification')"

As my point of view, the branch with condition should be added right after triggering this Power automate before "Add a row into a table" action. If the triggering action is modifying, no need to add a row into a table.

Please correct me and share more screenshots in the triggering card details if my understanding is wrong.

    Best regards,

    Jisung Han

    @JisungHan

Thanx for your comments! I partially agree with you.

I mean, if the assumptions I shared in my first posts are right, flow need first to check if a row for current ID already exists by means of 'List rows present in a table' with a filter.

Then the condition should be kept just after 'List rows present in a table'. If row was found, Update it. If ot, create it.

So if branch with condition is added right after triggering, I believe it will not work... unless the condition evaluates if SP item is new (Create equals Modified) or already existing (not equals)

    Hope this helps

    This didn't work.

Error details: no row was found with ID. (which makes sense) because when I removed the 'Add a row into a table' from second action, there was no list to look up.

What I have done is put the 'add row in table' as apart of a previous flow - so  I created the sharepoint list, then the next action is to 'add row in table'.

So now for this flow - I just want to update excel spreadsheet ONLY when I modify one of two questions in the sharepoint list as mentioned.

    I keep getting this error.

Thanks so much for input too team.

Can you please enter design mode, expand your filter array action block and share a screenshot to see the condition rule inside?

    Thanx!
