How to keep history after copying a document to another library with Flow

Hi everyone,

I have an application where I am using 3 document libraries in Sharepoint Office 365.  Lib1 houses Source documents in Word.  I use a Flow to copy a document to Lib2 where Editors make changes/updates to the doc.  Lastly, the updated doc is copied/moved to Lib3 where it is reviewed and Rejected/Approved.

I have all of this working using a couple of Flows and buttons to initiate the copy/moves.

The issue is that the Flow copy process does not retain the version history of the documents.  I really need this for auditing and can't live without it.

Does anyone know how to do the copies from one lib to another while keeping the version history?  Without expensive 3rd party add ins?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Ed

    Hi @Anonymous,

Currently, Flow does not support retaining version history after copying files to other libraries in SharePoint library.

Even if don't use the Flow facts copy operation, but copy a file directly into another Library in SharePoint, the version history will not be preserved. Because it will be recognized as the generation of new files.

I am afraid that your needs cannot be achieved currently.

If you would like a feature to maintain the version history for the documents in the destination library, please submit a request on Flow Ideas Forum:

    Best Regards,

    Barry
