How to delete an Approval if its Timed out?

Hello,

I am new to Power Automate, and I am trying to figure out how to delete or kill an Approval after it has Timed out, in my current flow I am using the Time out feature within the Approval action to branch out further to send approval to second set of Approvers. but in doing so the first approval action stays in limbo land and never ends. There is a very high chance the 1st set of Approvers might approve it without knowing that its no more functional since its timed out.

I tried using the Delete a row action but its returning an error stating the record id = null which is as below.

my apologies if above question is too confusing, below is the image of flow that I am creating.

Thanks

You are on the right track.  Here's what you need to do.

    1) Instead of using Start and Wait for an Approval use the Create an Approval and then Wait for an Approval.  This will let you get the Approval ID from the Create an Approval before it times out.

    2) Use the Approval ID to as the Row ID to Delete the Row in the Dataverse Approvals table.  This will not remove the email, there is no way to do that.  But it will remove the approval from the approvals panel.

    Hello,

Im trying to use your method above and I am getting this error:

    Principal user (Id=fa6b86ec-c40f-ec11-b6e6-000d3a448ec3, type=8, roleCount=6, privilegeCount=966, accessMode=0), is missing prvDeletemsdyn_flow_approval privilege (Id=1a2d5934-9e39-4bc9-aa92-42c335f39ac5) on OTC=10022 for entity 'msdyn_flow_approval' (LocalizedName='Approval'). context.Caller=fa6b86ec-c40f-ec11-b6e6-000d3a448ec3. Or identityUser.SystemUserId=ce78d5e9-5136-496f-b7da-7d3ce00d0eae, identityUser.Privileges.Count=4448, identityUser.Roles.Count=0 is missing prvDeletemsdyn_flow_approval privilege (Id=1a2d5934-9e39-4bc9-aa92-42c335f39ac5) on OTC=10022 for entity 'msdyn_flow_approval' (LocalizedName='Approval').

any idea how to solve this?

The user running the flow doesn't have permission to delete entries in the Approval table in Dataverse.

Solution works for me, thanks a bunch!

Is there any way to customize the error message that brings up a ms teams approval task, that has been removed from Dataverse?

Currently it throws an user unfriendly error:

Something has gone wrong. Wait a bit and try again.
    CorrelationId - 227...

Do you know any way to customize that?

What do you mean by "it will remove the approval from the approvals panel?"  Will that prevent the user from clicking on Approve or Reject in their email? My issue is that although the first approval has timed out and moved on to the second approval step, users are clicking approve or reject on the first approval action with no way of knowing that their response is not doing anything.
