Random Card Placement Error

I'm using Edge to place fields on 4 column horizontal tablet layout.  At random times it places field on the next row even though there is room on current row.

I delete field and replace it and it fixes the problem so not a critical issue.

    Hi @mogulman,

This can be confusing the first time you encounter it (and there is a weird BUG with the way Forms "auto-layout" data cards) BUT, here is what you need to know:

    • You can control the ROW and COLUMN that a Data Card shows up in by:
      • Selecting the Data Card
      • Setting the Y and X value
        • Example:
          • Data Card should be in ROW (Y) 1, COLUMN (X) 1
          • Set its Y value to 0
          • Set its X value to 0
          • Its critical you are setting the Data Cards X and Y values and NOT Controls within it
        • Example 2:
          • Data Card should be in ROW 4, COLUMN 3
          • Set its Y value to 5
          • Set its X value to 4
          • You should now see that ROWS and COLUMNS are number 0 - N
    • This information is in the (very detailed!) docs on Forms.

    Hope this helps

Oh yeah, the "BUG" I mentioned (but haven't yet captured and reported) is:

    • You will find that using the above method will STILL yield Data Cards that CANNOT be placed in their respective ROW or COLUMN.
    • Sometimes its because you have too many existing Data Cards in a ROW
      • Example:
        • Form is set for 3 COLUMNS
        • You have 3 Data Cards with Y= 2 and  X = 0, X = 1 and X=2 already
        • When you try to add another card to the Y = 2 ROW, you won't be able to, all of its COLUMNS are already filled with cards
    • Other times, you have an open COLUMN in the ROW but the card "just won't go" into the slot you are designating (THIS IS THE BUG)
      • The workaround:
        • Throw the card way down the Form
          • Example:
            • Y = 8
            • X = 0
        • Then bring it back to the slot you want.

Anyway, I spend way too much time messing with PowerApps Forms!! They are a blessing and a curse!

    Hi @mogulman,

    Have you solved your problem?

Do you turn on/enable the "Snap to columns" option within your Edit form and the number of columns is set to 4?

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

If the issue is still existed on your side, you could consider take a try to disable/turn off the "Snap to columns" option, and then re-enable/re-turn on this option to fix this issue.Test1.gif

Thanks, I had already completed placing all the fields but I played around with this and it seems to work well.  It is a simpler solution than deleting and adding field.

I have snap to columns set and columns set to 4.  The first time it happened I did turn off snap to columns and turn it on.  It had no affect.  I only had this problem on a form with a lot of fields (160).  It could be due to some asynchronous feature of the placement engine.  I did an Angular project a while back and I use to have a random placement problem with Firefox.  The easy fix is to change the X/Y position of card so I don't see this an issue.
