How to verify users on button onSelect Function

Hi,

I'm new to developing canvas apps and want to know if the below request can be achieved.

 

I have a screen with UserName and Password and a Connect button. OnSelcct of the button, I need to verify if the user is in our CDS and yes navigate to welcome screen or else throw user not found error.
