Code assistant bot for legacy Enterprise source code on old linux servers

I have tried uploading few source (C language) code repositories through an enterprise gateway and it got stored in a dataverse table, but this doesn't seem to work well when I tried a few test queries such as to get function parameters for a specific function call, and it seems to skip over the relevant files.

1. What would be the best practice to provide programming source code as a knowledge source if it's not the dataverse table I have already attempted ?
2. Any best practices to refresh this source code periodically directly from those linux servers which are on the enterprise network and accessible through ssh/scp through the gateway windows machine ?

Not sure if relevant, the source code repositories contain enterprise linux device drivers.

Code assistant bot for legacy Enterprise source code on old linux servers
    Hi Romain,

Thanks for the suggestion. Given the sensitivity of our enterprise source code, we need to use a solution that ensures the code is not open to the public. Additionally, our developers are reluctant to switch from Linux servers to GitHub, even though we have an enterprise GitHub account. Currently, we use CVS to manage source code on these Linux servers, and our team is accustomed to the tags functionality for build systems, which helps in tracking versions and managing builds efficiently.

I could consider using GitHub if there was a connector to migrate and keep the code up to date while ensuring tags are preserved. I'm exploring different options and looking for one that requires the least effort.

Since I'm new to AI, I assumed the underlying Copilot thinking engine would be the same and training with the source code knowledge provided would be an advantage. I don't know whether a general coding agent referring to my source code would perform better than a general agent trained with the source code knowledge.
Copilot chatbot says: "An AI trained with your source code knowledge would likely perform better for tasks specific to your codebase, while a general coding agent is useful for broader programming assistance. If you have the option to train an AI with your source code, it could offer more precise and context-aware support."

Kindly let me know if anyone has attempted anything similar.

    Best regards,
    Raj
