Clearing out the Recent Records on a Lookup from a SubGrid on a Model Driven App

When I try to "Add an Existing Record" from my related subgrid, the popup shows not just current Contacts but also deleted records in the Recent Records.  Where can I change the setting so either it shows nothing or at least only shows records that exist?
